Due to new Government legislation as from August 2004 new digital tachographs will have
to be fitted to all new vehicles. This may come down to all current vehicles having to be fit-
ted with these new tachographs as well.
These tachographs will only work if you have the new card type driving licence with your
photograph on it. You have to feed the card into the machine to make it work, so to make
sure that we are prepared for this if you have the old style paper licence then please think
about getting the new type. The tachographs will as now, only have to be used when mov-
ing vehicles that have not broken down or involved in an accident.

BRANCH CO-ORDINATOR

Due to the complexities of harmonising four branches and insuring that the same systems
apply throughout, we are pleased to announce that Debby Burrows has accepted the posi-
tion of Branch Co-ordinator. Debby brings many years of experience to this position and I
am sure that we will all give her every support and our wishes for the future in this position.

LONDON CONGESTION CHARGES
Well done to Steve Adamson on passing his HGV 1 test The London congestion charges costs the company £5 per vehicle when we enter the area,
if we don’t pay then it costs us £40 in a fine. The congestion charge applies from 07:00 to
18:30 Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. You will know when you are entering
the area as there are signs informing you of this. Please contact the control room before
you enter if it is between the times above, there is no charge at the weekends.

FUEL RECEIPTS
Can you please ensure that all fuel receipts have the mileage entered and are handed in on a
regular basis.

PAY SHEETS
When a pay sheet is completed during a month please ensure you hand them in to be for-
warded to Debby. This will help the process and ensure that there are no hold ups with pay.
